Fact about SiTel

Student association in Telemark (SiTel) functions as a service institution for the students in Telemark. Our main assignment is student welfare at each study location. SiTel works together with the students and the school to improve the academic and social enviroment for the students.

You can find the rules and regulations conserning the student unions in the law from the 28th June 1996. The law states that the college/university is responsible for the strategic learning enviroment for the student while the unions are responible for the operational.

About 5000 student are connected to SiTel by their studies at Telemark College University (HiT). SiTel is located at 4 study locations: Porsgrunn, Notodden, Bø and Rauland.

The term-fee is kr. 400,- each semester. This must be paid for you to have access to lectures and exams, and also if you want to take advantage of the services SiTel provides.

SiTel is a company with 65 employees. We provide the following services for the students:
bookstore (in cooperation with Akademika), cafeterias, student lodgings, student day-care centres, student counselling and health care services. SiTel also supports different student clubs and activities.

The board is the company`s top management, and the students have the majority.
