Bø was established as a county in Telemark in 1838. Bø is a modern village and a junction with good transport connections to the southern part and western part of Norway, as well as Oslo. The population in Bø is 5600. Bø has 1500 students and you may say that the village can be seen as one big campus. There is a lively culture life in Bø where you can experience both folk music as well as rock music. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson (1832 – 1910) described Bø as ”the most beautiful place on earth” in the book ”A happy boy”.
Telemark regional college was founded in 1974. Today the name is Telemark University College, division for general studies. Campus Bø has students from all over Norway and from over 20 other countries.
There are 60 different study programs you can choose from within the areas nature and environment, economics, information technology, culture- and humanistic subjects. The study environment in Bø is intimate, characterized by commitment and professional observation. The legendary student pub in Bø is elected the best concert scene in the country.
KROA (the student pub) hosts concerts, theater performances, revues, debates and other arrangements. Gullbring cultural center contains a movie theater, swimming pool, sports hall, scene and a gym.
